"LaMantia 1st came to Trinidad in '84, and was immediately adopted - it was Love all round!

Her love for the Rhythms of the World
has grown into an unrelenting joy,
as she returns her gift of music and art back to the community which has helped nurture her talent.
An impassioned performer, while still maintaining her professional career, she has made it her life's passion to lead the way to Social Change through the Music and Culture of Carnival."
Akinde Gooding "Kindred" Trinidad & Tobago, West Indies
A composer & performer from an early age,
LaMantia fell in Love with Carnival Culture and Music
after seeing "Black Orpheus" on an old Black & White TV in Los Angeles.
Her dream was to go to Rio & join a "Samba School" and play in Rio's Carnival.
Then she heard the Steel Pan,
met some very nice people who invited her to Trinidad for the following Christmas,
and she now lives in Port of Spain part of the year. Her Trinbagonian friends & family call her
"d' born again Trini"

Since 1984, LaMantia's study of Steel Pan includes:
- endless Panoramas - Trinidad & Tobago Steelband National Competitions -
with the World Champion Desperados, Starlift & Our Boys
- and more than 2 decades of Carnival 'Bomb' competitions.

In the Bay Area:
Numerous Concerts & gigs - From Orchestra Sabrocita in the '70's to Mills' College in the 80's,
to SF Carnaval & Oakland Carijama 1992 - 2009 with MoLOve Steelband
while writing arrangements and performing at New Parish, Yoshi's etc.
with LilMoLove & as a featured guest artist.
